Brett Favre's Ankle Just The Latest Example Of His Ego Run Wild...

So we have our first Brett Favre news of the NFL off season. According to ESPN's Ed Werder reports today that the 40 year old future hall of fame quarterback requires ankle surgery to play for the Minnesota Vikings in the upcoming NFL season. The injury was suffered three months ago in the NFC Championship game where the Vikings lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.

As the "Favre Watch" enters the fifth off season where we all await the decision of a legend in the history of the NFL, this soap opera must end as soon as possible.

Dez Bryant Can't Hate GM Jeff Ireland...He Did His Job....

Props to Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports with his article today revealing some of the questions that potential top draft picks were asked in their pre-draft visits/interviews. Silver talked to many of the top name draftees and some of the questions could be considered outlandish, creepy and outright degrading to some.

For example:

Defensive Tackle Gerald McCoy - "Do you play in a G-string or a jock strap?"

Safety Myron Rolle - "What was it like to desert your team?"

Running Back Toby Gerhart - "Do you feel entitled because you're a white running back?"

However the one question that had made all the rounds on the news wire today was a question asked to wide receiver Dez Bryant from Miami Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland. According to Bryant, he was asked about his mother and if she was a prostitute.

As shocking to some that question would be and as insulted as Bryant was when it was asked, to me anything goes when it comes to interviewing potential employees in the NFL.

The Crosstown Classic is six days of celebration in the city of Chicago. Its six days where a line is drawn down Madison street and you are either "with us" or "one of them." It's something that makes Chicago special when for six days out of the year, we celebrate the inner city rivalry that is made up of our Chicago baseball teams. It turns friends to enemies, family members unravel in their sibling rivalries, and the town is 100% about the nation's past-time. It's been so special for so long that for those six days the city splits into two families, south siders and north siders with a whole winter of bragging rights on the line.

Every summer masses of young adults line up like rabbits to get the latest and greatest food pellet known to humanity. The new Madden NFL video game is right around the corner and it was announced today that Super Bowl winning quarterback Drew Brees will fill the cover of the latest edition of the best selling football game franchise.

With this honor however comes the "Madden Curse" which has haunted many superstar NFL athletes.

Roethlisberger: Big Mistake To Trade "Big Ben"

Earlier today it was reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter that Ben Roethlisberger is being shopped around by the Pittsburgh Steelers for a possible top ten pick. This morning Roethlisberger was handed down a suspension from the NFL for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. The suspension could be anywhere from 4-6 games and could be reduced based on Roethlisberger's behavior and compliance with clinical evaluators.

As bad as the stories coming out of what allegedly Roethlisberger did, as well run as the Steelers organization is with its many years of success.....

This would be the dumbest move possibly in the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

2010 Chicago White Sox: When Is It "Too Late" To Say "Too Early"?

When is the "too early" excuse "too late" to use? Every season we ask that question of our baseball teams in Chicago and yet every season there is never a correct answer. In fact the only true way to describe "too early" is until you are team is out of the playoff race.

Unfortunately for one side of town, it's looking like "too early" might come way too soon in this 2010 baseball season.

MLB Does Not Have A Race Issue.....Get Over It!

On a day where Major League Baseball celebrates one of its truly inspirational heroes in Jackie Robinson, the topic of diversity in the sport has once again raised it's ugly head. I was reading a column on MLB.com about how Minnesota Twins second baseman Orlando Hudson raises the issue of the lack of African Americans in the sport of baseball.

Hudson asked about the significance of Jackie Robinson in MLB was quoted as saying:

"The game still has a lot of progress to make," Hudson said on Wednesday. "I'm pretty sure [Robinson] turned over in his grave to see the lack of African-Americans playing ball. ... I'm pretty sure [Thursday] will be a glorious day, but Baseball, I think we're trying to do a little more."

When will baseball and baseball players (especially African American players) wake up!!??
