Here is another reason why I am such a fan of Twitter. While watching the White Sox fall for the second time in three days to their arch rival with my wife who was more concerned with updating her facebook status,
I got into a real interesting conversation on the social network involving my 613 followers and one Joe Cowley of the Chicago Suntimes. The debate was about the attendance issues at US Cellular Field for the much hyped Twins/White Sox series.
The conversation started with Cowley tweeting the following:
Now Joe Cowley has been covering the Chicago White Sox for several years now both with the Chicago Suntimes and the Daily Southtown (now dubbed "The Southtown Star" owned by Suntimes Media). I was confused by what Joe meant with this 140+ character opinion. Should Cubs fans really drop their season and team on the north side of town and fill the Cell to watch winning baseball in Chicago?
This age old argument had a new twist to me, should Chicago come together twice during the year....Bears season, and baseball season?

Ozzie Guillen Demands Credit....FOR WHAT?
As a White Sox fan myself, there is a lot to be upset about right now. The White Sox who had gone from nine and a half games back to three and a half in front in a matter of 40 days fell flat on their face last night losing to their hated rival from Minnesota 12-6.
Giving up five home runs on the night, the White Sox are now trailing in the division for the first time in a month. Even with the bad loss last night I was more upset by some comments that manager Ozzie Guillen made before the game about how the White Sox do not get enough credit for where they are right now.
On May 17th, 2010...I declared the Chicago baseball season over and dead. Also on March 30, 2010 I stated that if the Chicago White Sox do not make the playoffs that manager Ozzie Guillen needs to go. I will continue to stand by those statements, but Ozzie Guillen thinks that his club does not get enough credit for the situation they are currently in.
Why does Ozzie think that his team needs credit when they have accomplished nothing?

Could The Chicago Blackhawks Lose Marian Hossa Next??
I will admit that when it comes to athletes contracts, collective bargaining agreements, no trade clauses, team and player options, and all things contracts....I am no expert. This is why people with business degrees and journalism degrees get paid what they do because for bloggers like me, I am a bullet points kind of guy. Give me the cliffsnotes version of a ruling rather than the 300+ page verdict any day. Call me lazy, call me a slacker....you would do the same thing.
Yesterday an independent arbitrator named Richard Bloch determined that the NHL was within its legal right to reject the 17-year, 102 million dollar contract of superstar LW Ilya Kovalchuk with the New Jersey Devils. Bloch heard arguments from both the NHL and the NHLPA (the player's association) over two days in Boston last week. His decision came late Monday afternoon. As a result of Bloch's ruling, Kovalchuk immediately returns to unrestricted free agent status.
The contract Ilya Kovalchuk signed is actually very similar to that of Blackhawks RW Marian Hossa. Could this mean big trouble for the Blackhawks??
It just might!

President Obama Honors Super Bowl Champs Saints.....with ALEX BROWN??
I imagine that the highest honor any citizen of this great country can have is to be face to face meeting the President of The United States. I can remember when my parents let me skip school just to go see President Bill Clinton at a rally for job growth in Fort Worth, Texas insisting that my presence there is witnessing history. To me it seems extremely rare to be in the same general area as the President today unless you have a lot of money to make a donation or you work for a company that the government is bailing out.
Today the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints stopped by the White House for the annual honor that the best team in American football receives. The 44th President of The United States Barack Obama (Bears Fan) hosted the Saints in the East Room of the White House congratulating the team on their first Super Bowl in team history and using the moment to state the goals of the gulf oil spill. However one thing caught my eye as I watched the ceremony tweeting on the treadmill.
What the hell is former Chicago Bear Alex Brown doing there?

Carlos Delgado To The White Sox Is A Perfect Fit....
One worst part about my job as Associate Producer of The Mully And Hanley Morning Show on WSCR 670AM The Score (shameless.....I know) is when news/rumors spread near the end of the program. For example it sucks if the White Sox or Cubs make a trade, the Blackhawks sign Antti Niemi (still a little upset over that), or the Bulls land LeBron around 8:54am cst.
It is a real bummer when something you know would generate a great conversation hits the social media outlets when you have commercials playing out your last hour on the air.
Today it happened again as it has many times before when Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweeted the following:
So the White Sox are interested in left handed slugger (of yesteryear) Carlos Delgado? Does this mean Kenny Williams is extremely desperate for that left handed power bat in the lineup? Here is why the idea of bringing in the two time all star to the south side is a better idea than any other slugger "K-Dub" went after at the trade deadline.

Brett Favre Retires Again! How This Impacts The Chicago Bears...
STOP THE PRESSES!!!
BRETT FAVRE HAS RETIRED!!
Again....
That is right Bears fans! Reports from the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Judd Zulgad have sources saying that the 11-time pro bowler and 3-time NFL MVP began informing Vikings personnel late Monday night that he has decided to retire for a third time. Head coach Brad Childress during today's meeting with the assembled Minnesota media was not aware if there had been a definite decision by his quarterback saying:
Presuming this is all true that Brett Favre is indeed hanging up his cleats for a third time (until he gets that "itch" again), how does this impact the Chicago Bears' chances in the NFC North?

Ozzie Guillen Defends Latinos, But There Are Flaws In His Argument..
The Blizzard Of Oz (as one former Chicago columnist would dub White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen) is at it again. Leading the hottest team in baseball since June 1st from the dead to the top of the AL Central division race obviously has not lead Guillen to believe the Sox have gotten the attention they rightfully deserve. So before Sunday's tilt against the Athletics, Guillen decided to stir the pot like he has done numerous times before by sticking his foot in his mouth once again.
Everytime Ozzie decides to open his mouth we always have to ask if he crossed the line. I do not believe that Guillen crossed the line with his comments this time, but Guillen must see the flaw in his argument....right?
